A heart attack is a common outcome of heart disease, which claims more American lives than any other sickness. St. Petersburg General Hospital hopes to address this problem with our Chest Pain Center. An integral part of our center is providing patients with swift medical care that quickly alleviates the cause of their discomfort. In the case of a heart attack, quick treatment time is critical to survival and recovery, as heart tissue can die with each minute that blood flow is denied to it. Given the importance of time regarding cardiac crises, we also hope to raise health education awareness within the St. Petersburg community. By teaching residents how to identify the signs of a heart attack, including breathing difficulty, lightheadedness, and chest pain, we can facilitate better and faster treatment.
The Chest Pain Center at St. Petersburg General Hospital is proud to have certification from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
