Packing Your Hospital Bag for Labor and Delivery

Last updated 3 years ago

As you near your baby’s due date, preparing a hospital bag ahead of time will ensure that you’re ready to leave for the hospital at any moment. You should pack two separate bags: one for you and one for your baby. In your own bag, include your insurance information any necessary hospital forms, and a birth plan if you have one. Pack a few pairs of nonskid socks, a robe or sweater, at least two maternity bras, and any travel-sized toiletries you’ll need during your stay. If you wear glasses, remember to bring them as well. Other items you’ll want to pack include hair ties, loose change or nonperishable snacks, your cell phone and charger, and at least one change of clothes. For your baby, pack a coming-home outfit, plenty of warm clothing if it’s cold outside, and warm, soft blankets.
